In 2013, Gibson Custom was thrilled to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of its Historic Reissue Series with the introduction of the Les Paul 20th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Standard Limited Collection. This special release marked a significant milestone in the series.

In a rare collaboration, both Edwin Wilson and Tom Murphy, who had previously worked independently, joined forces to bring this collection to life. They painstakingly handpicked 100 guitar tops, ensuring the utmost quality, and developed an exclusive sunburst finish tailored specifically for this limited run. A testament to their dedication, Tom Murphy personally sprayed each burst, just as he did when the Historic Series first began back in 1993.

To further commemorate the historical significance of this release, the guitar comes accompanied by an array of extras. These include a "retro" logo dust cover, a handwritten Certificate of Authenticity print, and even a pair of white gloves for those who prefer to handle this rare piece of history with the utmost care.
